I believe you can train Atlassian Intelligence on data stored outside of Confluence, but with some limitations and through specific methods. Proceed with caution- Atlassian Intelligence is still very much under development.

  1. Third-Party Integrations and Plugins: Atlassian products, including Confluence, support a variety of integrations and plugins that can connect to external data sources. For example, the Tableau for Confluence plugin allows you to embed and interact with Tableau visualizations, which are based on external data. Zapier or Integromat can also be used to automate data transfer between Confluence and other applications, enabling the use of external data indirectly within Confluence.

  2. Custom API Development: You can use Atlassian’s REST API to pull data from external sources into Confluence. This method requires development effort but allows for more customized data integration.

  3. Atlassian Marketplace Apps: There are specific apps in the Atlassian Marketplace designed to extend Confluence’s capabilities with external data. For instance, Comala Publishing allows you to publish content across different Confluence spaces and instances, potentially incorporating data from external sources if configured appropriately. EazyBI Reports and Charts is another example that supports external data sources, enabling sophisticated reporting and BI functions within Confluence.

Data security, performance and compatibility are huge considerations here. Let us know how it goes.
