Seems like my answers are getting blocked again.

Would it be possible to see if my answers are getting blocked again.  Not sure if I'm answering too many questions, or answering too quickly to the post, or what the deal is.

If that's the case, can the spam filter be tweaked to be a little more forgiving to people answering questions?

Or can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

@Dan Breyen hey there. Seems like your answers are not blocked - i can see them. I think if you post too fast, the bot here can flag them, but not so sure.

Hmm.  Weird.  I know I replied to several postings but didn't see the answers show up.

OK.  Thanks.

@Dan Breyen it might take some time to show up.

@Dan Breyen you may be too fast with your answers, and they may be marked as a spam, Sometimes it is better to wait a moment. Check your profile feed, if you can see them there, they are for sure public.

PS I can see your answers too! So no worries.

I'm afraid that's not true - if you post an answer, it gets published.

Accepting an answer means the question is marked as "solved", and the answer flagged as a correct answer.

FYI - It is possible to have your posted answers get marked as spam where they don't get published.  It's already happened to me twice where the algorithm is picking it up for some reason and marking it as spam, requiring support to get involved.

That's why I posted the question here, because I know I replied to some questions and the answers weren't there.

Anyway, thanks everyone, I'll continue to keep an eye on it.

I've not seen any of your posts in the spam list, but yes, you can get filtered by the auto-detect.

The 'bots tend to pick up on

  • junk text (posting lots of logs without much explanation, code, or stuff that doesn't make real words are the most common triggers)
  • repeated similar or identical posts
  • accounts that have posted stuff flagged as spam before
  • they're improving at spotting and flagging AI generated posts, which is great

There are three other reasons a post might vanish, but they're human: moderators may

  • move a post to a non-public area (your post will still show in your profile, and be visible to you, leaders, and Atlassians)
  • manually flag it as spam (your post will vanish from public view, and your profile, only leaders and moderators can see spam-filtered items)
  • delete a post; a nuclear option that removes the post completely (It used not to be logged as well, so Atlassian used to ask me if I had used it sometimes, in the days when "move to removed" didn't work)

I can't speak for other leaders, but if I think something needs killing, I move it or flag it as spam; I never delete any more, even on the really offensive stuff.

But those options will not drop your posts immediately. They only go when a human clicks through the process.

The last way a post might get dropped is if you post identical content, or post too much too fast, exactly as you suggest.  However, if you do this, you'll get an error message telling you why the post was rejected, including a suggestion to try again later.  Atlassian have tinkered with the posting rate limits quite a lot over the last few years and have settled on a value that is good at clobbering 'bots and copy/paste scripts, but rarely affects humans (because it takes us time to write)
