To recap the topics discussed this month, here are some of the questions and answers that came up during this round of office hours:

Q: Is it possible to export Atlassian data to 3rd party data warehouses?

A: Data shares provide a secure and automated way to export your Atlassian data to third-party data warehouses. This allows you to analyze and extract insights from your data outside of Atlassian's products. To export data to third-party data warehouses using data shares, the third-party data warehouses must support Databricks delta sharing protocol.

Q: What are some of your favorite resources for getting started with Atlassian Analytics as a beginner?

A: We offer a range of resources on Youtube that can assist you in getting started with Atlassian Analytics. In addition, our documentation pages, knowledge base articles, and Community space are valuable sources where you can explore queries from fellow users. Moreover, we provide chart and dashboard templates that may serve as useful foundations for the performance metrics visualization you are looking to build.

Q: I know you can now use Atlassian Intelligence to help generate queries in JQL using natural language. Is there a feature like this, or a plan to implement a feature like this in Atlassian Analytics?

A: Yes, Atlassian Intelligence can be used to generate SQL queries in Atlassian Analytics. To use Atlassian Intelligence in Atlassian Analytics:

  1. Select Create > Chart > Custom chart to open the chart editor.

  2. In your query, select SQL to open the SQL editor and select the Atlassian Intelligence icon in the lower-left corner. Note that this feature is only available for Atlassian Data Lake connections.

  3. From here, you can enter your questions in natural language, select Go to submit your question, and Atlassian Intelligence will return a SQL query.

Q: Is there a way to force a data sync manually during the day as we make changes prior to a meeting?

Currently, there is no direct method to trigger a data synchronization between your Atlassian products and the Atlassian Data Lake. Most tables within the Atlassian Data Lake receive updates every 30 minutes. However, certain major Jira tables undergo refresh cycles lasting from 3 to 6 hours to enhance query efficiency. For detailed insights on tables refreshed at these intervals and additional information regarding data freshness, please refer to our documentation provided here.

Thanks again to everyone who joined us! As always, don’t hesitate to contact support for any assistance outside of office hours.
