Improving Atlassian account security using security keys as a second factor

Hello, Atlassian community!

We are excited to announce that Atlassian now supports security keys as a two-step verification (2SV) method. We already support time-based one-time password (TOTP) and SMS.

Atlassian offers support for a variety of security key devices, such as USB keys, NFC devices, and compatible smartphones with built-in biometric authentication or secure enclaves.

How to enable security key as 2SV

  1. Go to Atlassian Account

  2. Select Security

  3. Select Manage two-step verification

  4. Enter your password to initiate the 2SV enrollment wizard.

  5. Select Security key and follow the prompts on screen to register your key.
