Importing existing users from Atlassian Access to Okta for assignment

Hi! I am currently working on integrating Okta SSO and User provisioning with Atlassian Access. I currently have a couple hundred existing users and  I am trying to import those into Okta so I can map them to existing accounts.

Is there a way to import existing Atlassian users into Okta using the API?

Hi @Heberto Lorenzo

If the users already exist on Atlassian cloud, you should claim your domain and when you link Atlassian access to Okta via SAML SSO that should sync the users into Okta. I believe that's the way it works.

Right, they would have access once the SAML configuration is completed but I would still need to assign the users to the application via Okta. Other applications allow you to import from them so that you can map them to existing users in Okta.

@Heberto Lorenzo unfortunately we don't support importing into Okta via the user provisioning integration at this time. However, you should be able to export a CSV of your existing users and import that into Okta.

Thanks for the answer @Dave Meyer!

@Dave Meyer
Does this mean, at present there is no way to automate the user import from Atlassian to Okta ?
I could successfully automate and push a new Okta user to Atlassian through the provisioning setup, but if we could have it bi-directional, it would be great.

Also the export users csv generated from Atlassian is not in Okta supported template for import. Is there a way to generate it in Okta-import template from Atlassian?

Thanks in advance.

@Nijas Rawther

Push of users to OKTA from Atlassian is NOT supported.

Generating CSV in a format supported by OKTA is NOT supported.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Is their also a known limitation for profile "UPDATES" not getting pushed to Atlassian from OKTA.

After mapping OKTA user profile attributes to Atlassian user profile and even after configuring the user updates to be synced, I am not seeing changes to mapped properties in OKTA profile reflecting in Atlassian portal e.g. like user TITLE.

We support the fields listed here: https://support.atlassian.com/provisioning-users/docs/understand-user-provisioning/#User-provisioning-features

Check the configuration in Okta of how these fields are mapped in the user provisioning integration, or contact our support team.
