Can Atlassian Access be configured on a test site before implementing it on our real site ?

We are looking to implement Atlassian Acces for Microsoft AD FS but we would like to test things with a separate site first.

  • Can Atlassian Access be installed on a trial site ?
  • Does this have implications for users connecting with our company email address into other sites ?

Hello Dirk,

Thank you for getting in touch with Atlassian Community!

When using a Cloud site, you can also trial Atlassian Access for 30 days.

With that said, you can manage the organization, verify a domain and use all the features.

Does this have implications for users connecting with our company email address into other sites?

Users will receive an email informing that their account is managed and when they login to your site if using SAML, they will be redirected to the identity manager.

Also, if you set up SAML, two-step verification or other policies, it will be applied to all accounts from that domain and also, if a user is a user from another Cloud site, they will also login using SSO.

For example, my account is managed by Atlassian and I created test Cloud sites to test functionalities and other things to take screenshots and help customers. Even if this site is only for test purposes, when I add my atlassian.com email to login, it redirects me to the identity provider.

So, if you verify the domain and use SAML, the user john@domain.com that has an account on site1.atlassian.net, site2.atlassian.net, and site3.atlassian.net, will log in using the identity provider, even if you are the admin for site1 only.

If you have any other questions regarding this matter, please let us know.

Regards,
Angélica
