As more companies consider adopting cloud products, we often hear the question, "Is it possible to synchronize my LDAP/Active Directory with Atlassian software in the cloud?"
TL;DR Yes, there are a couple different ways to connect your existing user directory with Atlassian cloud products.
If you need to implement both user provisioning and SSO: You can migrate your Active Directory to Azure AD and then connect Azure AD directly to Atlassian Access. Check out the documentation on Azure AD User Provisioning and configuring user provisioning with AD FS.
If you need SSO only: Atlassian Access has a direct SAML SSO integration with Microsoft AD FS. Check out the documentation here.
But managing user identity in the cloud world is not as simple as just implementing new cloud IAM tools and then mapping the migration path from your old on-premises systems.
Beyond the new tools, you’ll need to create new policies, update existing policies, and—most importantly—look ahead to where your organization is going, to make sure you’re set up to support ongoing growth.
We've created The Atlassian Guide to Cloud Identity and Access Governance to help you on your journey towards streamlined identity and access management in the cloud.
