Hello!
I'm using Atlas, Jira Product Discovery, and Jira Software in my org.
We are currently having multiple ways to track a project timeline -
We are getting a bit confused into the best practice here, and how much of it is automated/can be automated.
For example, I know that JPD and Jira can be synced in terms of dates - but is it synced to Atlas as well?
I had a case where I reported in Atlas a certain date, but a different one appeared in Jira Plan
Hi @matan.grady ,
There are different ways to track and synchronize dates. In my configuration, Atlas is the source of truth and I've configured JPD to pull the target dates from Atlas.
If you link Atlas to Jira (e.g. to a Jira Epic), then your Jira Epic will also synchronize with Atlas to keep the dates in sync:
Hi @matan.grady -- In my experience, yes, the start and end dates of a project are synchronized between Atlas and Jira. However, Jira does not support Atlas's fuzzy date feature, and so that can cause discrepancies between the two systems. For example, if you select a fuzzy date of Jan - Mar in Atlas, that will show-up as Mar 31 in Jira (last day of the selected fuzzy date range). Does that explain the difference you saw in Jira Plan? Or are you seeing a different behavior?

That said, I'm curious about the best practices as well!
