Hi, so I'm working on building a more user-centric approach to my personal Jira projects. I've been using user personas to understand my target audience better, but I woner how I can leverage them directly within Jira to manage projects and prioritize features. Any tips or tricks guys?
Hi @Johhnny_NFR,
Thanks for a great question!
User personas are a fantastic tool for keeping user needs at the forefront of your development process. While Jira itself doesn't have built-in persona management, there are some ways to bridge the gap.
One option is to use a product like ProductGo - Agile User Story Map, Portfolio Roadmaps and Persona for Jira, a user story mapping tool that integrates seamlessly with user personas. ProductGo allows you to create and attach your personas directly to your goals on the story map.
This creates a visual representation of how each feature impacts your different user groups. It helps your team prioritize features based on their value to specific personas, ensuring a truly user-centric development process.
By using a tool like ProductGo alongside Jira, you can leverage the power of user personas throughout your project lifecycle, making your development efforts more focused and impactful for your target audience.
If you have any concerns about using ProductGo, feel free to reach me below this thread.
I would create a custom field with a pre-populated picklist of your personas. Then make sure the field is on your issue screens. That makes it very easy to execute an issue search where you can find the list of issue that apply to a particular persona

There a few apps that introduce the concept of "persona" to Jira: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?hosting=cloud&product=jira&query=persona
You may want to compare them to decide which one fits your use case the best.
