Set up Test hierarchy using XRay

Latika Sharma September 4, 2024

Hi,

I am trying to setup Test hierarchy in Jira for the test cases. In my case, Test Plan -> Test -> Test Executions. This should be the hierarchy.

I was able to import the test plan but when i am trying to import Test and add the jira key as Parent during mapping, it says invalid parent selection. Its only letting me add Epic as parent instead of any user story or the test plan as Parent.

If anybody knows how to setup pls let me know.

Hi @Latika Sharma

There is no hierarchy in Xray.

You will manually need to add Tests in a Test Plan.

Reach out to Xray support and see if this is possible, I could be wrong, or if this is in their backlog.

Hi @Latika Sharma

Seems like a misunderstanding to me..

https://docs.getxray.app/display/XRAY/Organizing+Tests mentions about organising the hierarchical folder structure and not the issue type hierarchy.
