how to make a specific issuetype visible on Advanced Roadmaps without changing hierarchy?

Hi,

We have the following shared hierarchy in Jira: "Super Initiative"/"Initiative"/"Epic"/"Stories"/"Subtaks", which is working fine.

We've recently added a new issuetype called "Topic" which is implemented by an Epic (no "parent link") and has no "Initiative" relation. Is there a way for me to visualize that issue type on top of Epic on Roadmap without changing the actual hierarchy?

If I'm understanding correctly you're trying to have Epics be parented by your new "Topic" issue type?

It's not possible for you to view Topics above Epics on your roadmaps without changing the hierarchy. However, when configuring your hierarchy it's possible to have multiple issue types on the same hierarchy level, so you could use the setup shown below where you have both Initiative and Topic on the same level.

This will not relate your Topics and Initiatives at all - it will just allow you to use either a Topic or an Initiative as the parent for an Epic. I'll note that issues can only have one parent though, so it's not possible for an Epic to have both a Topic and an Initiative as a parent.

Thanks for your feedback!

I didn't know it was possible to add another issuetype on a same level, that's good to know. Unfortunately, it won't work for me: in our way of working an Epic is forced to have a parent Initiative so it can't have Topic as true/single parent (that's why the only link type we set up so far is "Epic implements Topic" but "initiative is parent of Epic".)

The only way to visualize additional/custom issue types in a plan is to use either a standard/base issue type linked to an Epic or a sub-task issue type.
