I am creating a dashboard and when I select a feature I want my smart gadget to count and display count for all of the sub-tasks in that feature with summary text of QA. I can't see to get anything to pull that information. I might be overlooking something, do you have an answer or query tip for this?
I understand that this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but just to put it out there in case it is useful:
If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I think you could get reasonably close using the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.
With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:
I should add that JXL doesn't come with a dashboard gadget (yet), so the above would happen in JXL's dedicated sheet views. This being said, given the virtually endless amount of reports you can model, many of our customers simple use a JXL sheet as a de-facto dashboard.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes
Hi @Tammy Shellenberger , thanks for your question.
Are you using an app for this dashboard? The gadgets that are available as standard generally don't have this kind of dynamic function. A Jira gadget just shows the results of a filter query in one visualisation (like a pie chart or a table). In order to be able to drill down into a table of results or filter by the summary, you would typically need either a reporting app, like eazybi or a dashboard app to give you more powerful gadgets.
Do you have either of these things? Or do you need to work with the Jira dashboards and gadgets?
Best wishes
