Issues without parents included in plan

Alexandra Wayne Harper January 6, 2023

my tasks and sub-tasks don't have parents as they don't need to be tracked by the company I work for. Because of this, they are in a drop-down on my roadmap "issues without parents" - not being able to see the tasks embedded into the other issue types that have parents makes it hard to see the Gantt chart. I group by component. Is there anyway to get rid of the drop down menus to issues without parents and include them with the rest of the work?

Hi @Alexandra Wayne Harper

I assume the Tasks and "Issues with parents" are the same hierarchical level?

Do you need to see the parents in this plan? If no, you could try filtering the Plan to show just the Task / Sub-tasks levels.

To do this:

  1. Select the Filters drop-down menu
  2. Set The From / To hierarchical levels to just show the bottom two layers

Otherwise, as far as I know - they'll always be grouped in the parent / no parent model.

Let us know if this meets your need!

@Ste Wright

our ux deliverable issuetype is much like the epic issue type. Tasks and sub-tasks fall under. I do need to see the parents and tasks in the plan and ideally don't want them split out. Is there any sort of work around? If I just look at the tasks, its not showing the bigger picture.

Hi @Alexandra Wayne Harper

Just to clarify - are the UX Issue Type, and the Epic Issue Type set at the same level in the Issue Type Hierarchy?

If yes, and you're looking to show both Parents and Tasks/Sub-Tasks in the same plan, then they will be grouped as "with Parents", and "without Parents", as per your initial screenshot.

This is how Advanced Roadmaps works, it groups based on the hierarchy.

okay thank you for this. Do you know if they plan to create a view to see issues with and without parents grouped together?

Hi @Alexandra Wayne Harper

Not that I know of - there might be a feature request though you can vote for/watch. For example, this request - JSWCLOUD-23394 - sounds sort of similar to your need.

Or, if you can't find a relevant feature request which is the same as your need, you could create one via: https://jira.atlassian.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa
