(Closed) Advanced Roadmaps Team unification: Sign-up to take part in the early roll-out

Update: Due to issues found during internal dogfooding the Early rollout will be delayed by at least a couple of months (from the planned rollout in September). We will keep you updated when we can share accurate timing for the new Early rollout.

Hello Advanced Roadmaps Community,

In the coming months we’ll be introducing a major change to the Shared Teams used in Advanced Roadmaps. Before we release this change widely, we’d like to invite you to receive Early Access to the rollout!

A preview of the feature

The Advanced Roadmaps team is currently working on unifying the multiple concepts of Teams used in our tools. When this feature is rolled out, Advanced Roadmaps Shared teams will be converted to the Atlassian Teams concept (accessed from the People dropdown in many of our tools). After which, the Teams you use in in Advanced Roadmaps can be used across other Atlassian products as well.

For Advanced Roadmaps users, this change should be relatively seamless as you will have pretty much all the same functionality you are currently provided with some minor experience changes. You will continue to be able to:

  1. Create and manage teams
  2. Associate Jira issues with Teams
  3. Search (JQL), filter, and create reports for issues by Team
  4. View the issues associated with a team on the team profile (across Jira, Confluence and more)
  5. Use Teams in Advanced Roadmaps for planning team work and capacity.

We expect very few constraints that may impact Teams currently used in Advanced Roadmaps (e.g Atlassian Teams must have at least one member).

The aim of this program

By testing this migration on a small cohort before it rolls out to all customers, we’re looking to validate the functionality, and ensure that the experience is as smooth as expected.

Those who are selected will be given early access to the migration. They’ll also be invited to a private Atlassian Community to engage with us and provide feedback, report issues, and be part of the conversation.

We intend for this Early Access program to commence around the end of September (note the update at the top re: delay).

What are we looking for?

At this stage, we’re looking for

  • medium-sized organizations actively using Advanced Roadmaps as part of Jira Software Premium
  • organizations using 10 teams in Advanced Roadmaps

this number is more of a guideline, based on the amount of responses we receive

Customers that are migrating or planning to migrate sites are not eligible for this program.

How do I sign up?

Let us know if you’re interested by filling out this form:  Jira Software Team unification: Early roll-out sign-up for customers using Advanced Roadmaps

Those who are selected will be notified by email.

We look forward to hearing from you and helping us shape the future of Teams in Atlassian.

Thank you,

Rhys

Looking forward to those changes as it's confusing right now.

I'm interested in signing up, but the form doesn't work for me. We actively use AR and we have more than 10 teams.

Is it possible to sync them with groups so we can get rid of the manual part. Currently we are not using the teams in any structured way, we use other solutions (but this gives us problems in the advance roadmap). Would love to discuss this!

Looking to participate to gain more insight on the Advanced Roadmap tool to use to convince more users to implement it as part of their Scrum planning.

Is this for Cloud customers only or can we participate if we are on DC?

Hey @Jason Leeds - This is Cloud only

@Rhys Christian I would appreciate some input here. This feature description is very generic and gives very unclear answers. The summary is however stating JIRA AR team concept is being consolidated to Atlassian team

-----------
Providing range of new capabilities for the Atlassian Teams concept so you can plan and manage Jira work associated to your Atlassian Team. We’re also migrating the Advanced Roadmaps team concept into Atlassian Teams to simplify the setup, adoption and use of Teams.

-----------

So what remains and we should be counting on?

JIRA AR team management can be delegated to managers, Atlassian team can't be.

Can we get some simple summary of expectations? The main challenge is we are rallying on different team concept now and and want to migrate to JIRA AR Team. The feature simple description states, don't do it, it is going away as well.

The consolidation is for sure desired but what is really going to be the outcome?

Thanks

"Cloud Only" feels like a miss. Is there a reason this functionality can't be rolled out to Server/Data Center?

@Rhys Christian - This is very exciting. Any updates on timeline?  We are heavy users of Advanced Roadmaps and currently doing some sandbox testing of Atlas so very interested in this new functionality. Thanks.
