Is it possible to merge user directory accounts?

Deleted user August 3, 2021

Due to a divestiture, we are required to change our User Directory from the SSO of our old organization (via a Generic Directory Server type) to an Active Directory domain of our new organization.  I'd love to be able to retain the ticket history with the users so that if they log in using their new AD authenticated account they could still see the tickets that they've created via the former company's SSO.

When I login with my new AD credentials it creates a new account for me in Users list.  Is it possible to merge together the new user & the old user?

Hello @[deleted] ,

Are the user names remaining the same? I've had success with this previously, but the user names were the same on both directories.

Unfortunately not.  The current directory uses our existing company email addresses as usernames and after transition we'll be using an Active Directory account UserID as username.

My plan for now is to just enable both directories and ask the users to re-assign any open tickets themselves from their existing email account to their new AD UserID account.  It's not pretty but it'll get the job done, kind of  :/
