Is there a way of accessing the Primary incident link via automation?
It would be great to generate a PIR where the Primary incident field is populated as part of the creation (via automation). But is that possible currently?

Cross Project Releases
Are "we" crazy/alone for having a requirement of Cross Project Releases in AR to be able to add more than one release from one project into a Cross Project Release? i.e. Project A has Release 1.9 & 2 that is part of the cross project release Project B has Release 11 Project C has Release 1.3

"Access Requests" in Atlassian Cloud?
is it possible for a site admin to be able to disable the "Request access to Jira Software" link, or create an alternate message to send? As we now use Atlaasian Access hooked up to Active Directory to grant and manage product access, these requests only create false expectations and overhead site admins

Earth to Wellington, come in Wellington.
Hi Welli crew. Long time no action. Question: If I held an Atlassian event in Wellington (in the CBD) would you come? If so, what topics would tempt you most? What kind of time slot? I'm thinking JSM Premium/Enterprise and some cool things that can be done using Assets supported by Object/Assets custom fields and…

Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) made easy with Jira Premium
Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) is a handy tool to assist prioritize work. But that isn't really what this article is about. If you would like to know more about WSJF, then here is a good place to start: WSJF - Scaled Agile Framework This article is about how the tools available now in Jira Premium can make recording,…

Faster than baking a cake?
One of the things I love about JSM and building out solutions with it for clients is just how flexible and easy it is to iterate a grow a solution overtime. This can workout well for clients as they. * Mature their ITSM practices. * Expand their Service management out beyond IT. * Deepen their knowledge and confidence with…

Deployment triggers (Automation for Jira)
Hi I'm trying to help a team (that have a release pipeline interacting with Jira currently) with some automation to transition the relevant story/s to Done upon completion of a successful deployment. But we are struggling to work out what the Environment Types represent in the " Deployment Successful" trigger option. We…

Workflow controls...How do you do?
I'm wondering how other Jira Cloud admins control (or not) workflows and workflow schemes. Do you run a tight ship regarding the ever desired "statuses" in Jira? or let them eat Jira status cake....so to speak 😊 Do you * Try and keep your Jira site on as few (well thought out) workflows and workflow schemes as possible?…

Dependency style
I've just noticed the Dependency style option in "view settings" (FYI - am trialing the new header style...in case that matters) But changing it to Lines from Badges doesn't seem to make any difference to the view. I was hoping this would evoke lines between the dependent issues on the Timeline. If not, what is it supposed…

Has the linking to Jira Epics functionality happened?
I see it is hyped here: Atlas | The Teamwork Directory every company needs (atlassian.com) But other than embedding a link into the epic, I can't see how any deeper linking can be done (on Cloud...for the record).

New to JSM
Hi I have been administrating and configuring JSM for about 4 months now. Learning lots fast. Loving what it is capable of! Have taken some dives into Insight (soon to be Assets), loving the potential there, especially when combined with Automation for Jira.

Cloning or copying a plan
I've noticed that a number of people have suggested/wished for the ability in Advanced Roadmaps to be able to clone or copy a plan. I must confess I'm not convinced it would be all that handy. Why not? I hear you ask * If the issue sources are the same, then no need to clone/copy., Simply create the view/s you require…

Edit forbidden error, but not all the time.
Anyone else experienced this? I'm getting occasional errors from a rule and the detail in the audit log is "edit forbidden". But this only happens randomly. Below is a good example, where in a short period of time, in the same Project (it's a global rule) there was a successful, a No action performed and a "some errors"…

Tips & Lessons for 2022: Feel free to fail
Advice Ensure psychological safety as broadly as possible, so that people/the team feel free to fail. Of course the important part is to learn from it. Incorporate fun with a Fail Wall...or the like (somewhere to document the fail, the lesson and any next attempts/actions etc.). So that people talk freely about them and…

Is there an issue with Product Discovery projects currently?
as we cannot access ours. Getting the below message. Project is still visible in the list of projects and if I try and go to the settings, i can see them briefly before it crashes and give this error. Going in to the front-end, it crashes immediately. Note: We can still get to the data via JQL (which is reassuring), so…

Status Changes in Jira
In recent times I've had a number of people ask me "How can I see how long a story spent in each status?" and things like that. Sending them into the history of a story to work it all out themselves is hardly an appealing proposition. So I started googling for options and come across this: Quick and easy way to create a…

The next Jira Cloud Admin - A reality TV show
Imagine!! Tuning in each week to see another round of hopeful contestants battling it out to survive another round of: "Jira Cloud Admin Idol" or "{{insert company name here}} has Jira Admin Talent". But seriously, what gruelling training/challenges would you set them? Where would you start (the simple stuff)? What could…

Service accounts not getting product access
HI Anyone got any experience with Service accounts and Atlassian access? We have Atlassian access setup with Azure AD to add users. We have 3 groups * to acknowledge the account (access to the Atlassian suite) * Grants product access to Jira * Grants product access to Confluence This all works seamlessly for general users,…

Page properties Report Macro and Jira links displaying inconsistently
Has anyone else encountered this? When displaying Jira links as part of a Page Properties Report macro only some of them display as a lozenge style, while others show the URL. (see below) I want them all to be in the lozenge style (showing their current status), but can't work out what is causing some to work and others…

Intermittent errors with Jira Product Discovery
Hi A colleague and I were customizing the Product discovery project we have set up and have encountered some odd behavior. Currently we can't access the project at all (see error), like it isn't available. Yet we can access the data and see the renamed fields in JQL (see 2nd screenshot). so at least some of our changes…

Concerns about the Team field
I have already written to @Tanguy Crusson about this and warned the Automation for Jira community of the potential confusion concerning the "Team" field, but figured it makes sense to let this community know as well. See post here for details: The Team field/s and Automation when using Product... (atlassian.com) In a…

The Team field/s and Automation when using Product Discovery
⚠⚠ Since getting involved with the new Product Discovery template in Jira Premium cloud, We now have an confusing and automation ruining situation. The Product Discovery "Team" field is available in the "Edit Issue" action in Automation for Jira, but this confuses the existing "team' fields JSON that we use to populate the…

Bridging the gap between Team managed and Company managed projects
Inspired by the discussion (I started) Workflow controls...How do you do? (atlassian.com) I thought I'd share an experiment I did around bridging the gap between Team managed and Company managed projects. Below is the user story (written in Next-gen/Classic terminology) The problem statement: How can we maintain…

Loving the Inspiration
This will be my 1st Summit style Atlassian level and I was sold from the moment I logged in, was asked for a favourite inspirational quote. I quickly ran off to find an appropriate quote from my favourite author Tom Robbins!! Then to find Atlassian had quoted him as well. Curious to know what other peoples quotes were and…
