Unable to add a parent link to an issue in the same project
I am unable to add a parent link to an issue when the parent is in the same project as the child. For example, I have the Initiative issue PPT-3412 as the parent, and Epic issue PPT-4928 as the child set up in Advanced Roadmaps. If I remove the Initiative from the Parent Link field and then try to select another issue from…

Exclude grayed out issues in a custom Advanced Roadmaps view filter
I am setting up several different views in an Advanced Roadmaps plan to show issues from two out of the 5 projects. Here are the details: * The hierarchy is Theme, Initiative, Epic, Story, Subtask. * There are 5 projects in the plan. * Project 1 has all of the Themes * Projects 2-5 have Initiatives and below. The Themes…

Is there a way to show issues above the Epic layer in the Project Timeline?
I'm using the project timeline in a Kanban board within a project (not in Advanced Roadmaps.) My hierarchy is Theme < Initiative < Epic < Story < Subtask. Themes exist in a separate overarching project to track cross project dependencies at the Initiative layer and below, Initiatives are tracked in the product team…

Epic, Base, and Subtask Issue Type Levels
I need to create a hierarchy of issues in Advanced Roadmaps as follows: * Strategic Initiative * Epic (epic type) * Feature (epic type) * Story(s) (base type) * Subtask(s) (subtask type) In this scenario the Feature is serving as the Epic for the stories in my part of the organization, but other areas within the org using…

Expert in Agile Coaching Certification Assistance
Hi Everyone, Would anyone like some free coaching, mentoring, training, or facilitation help in Agile processes or ceremonies? I'm working on my ICE-AC certification, I am about 1/2 way through the program. This cert is competency based, meaning there is no exam; rather there are several assessments to determine if my…

Can I create a Jira issue from a comment in GitHub?
During code review, our architect adds comments to the code in GitHub to call out areas that we consider tech debt like spelling errors, layering, poor designs, etc. We are developing a process for dealing with tech debt as part of our overall distribution of work to the scrum teams, but we don't have a good way of…

"Teams" field value metadata in Jira
When I use a team from this list in a filter Jira changes the name of the team to a number. For example, the JQL project = CENTRALDEV AND "Team[Team]" = CDVPT will become project = CENTRALDEV AND "Team[Team]" = 9 The filters work fine, but if I want to check to make sure a filter is using the right team I need to know that…

Context for Linked Issues Field
Is it possible to create a field configuration that uses a different set of inward and outward links from the default? We have several departments that use Jira and and link issues. Some use the traditional "FS Predecessor, FS Successor" style of dependency while others use a more simple "Relates To, Related To"…

Kudos for Atlassian Team Members?
I've had some great interaction with an Atlassian Team Member on a blog, both with the initial content of the blog and with clarifying questions that have helped me learn how some things work so I can write a proposal. Is there a way to give kudos to Atlassian Team Members? I feel they often deserve recognition too.

Impact of changing the name of an issue type on ScriptRunner
We're exploring changing the name of the Epic issue type to Feature, so our features will function as epics and we can create a new Epic issue type (that functions as a story) above Feature in the hierarchy. The issue type hierarchy will look like this: * Initiative * Epic * Feature (as "Epic" class issues) * Story *…

Time in Status with ScriptRunner for Cloud
I'm brand new to ScriptRunner (just got access today, yay me!) and it's been years since I've written any type of code, so I'm a complete noob. I hope someone can help... I need to report on how long issues in a project spent in each status in the workflow. I've found a couple of scripts in the Adaptavist Library that look…

Spikes: To point or not to point...That is my question.
Hi Everyone! I think this is my first time posting in the community since the pandemic started, I'm looking forward to participating again. There's some heavy debate in my organization around how to estimate spikes in a sprint: do they get estimated with story points or do they get timeboxed and overall capacity for the…

Managing Multiple Projects in a Single Board or…One Scrum to Rule Them All
Three Scrums for the Java-kings under the web, Seven for the Python-lords pulling out their hair, Nine for Cobol Code ever on the ebb, One for the Scrum Master on his desk chair In the Land of Jira where Projects lie. One Scrum to rule them all, One Scrum to find them, One Scrum to bring them all and in Agile bind them In…

Unable to Set Session Cookie
I had a new user that was unable to log in to Jira, so while troubleshooting her problem I reviewed some posts that recommended clearing the browser cache. I tested it on my PC to see if I could replicate her issue..here are my steps: * Verified that I could log in to Jira through Chrome * Cleared my cache, history, and…

Portfolios, Programs, and Projects, Oh My!
In the process of developing new project methodology standards for a couple of teams within my department, I've been asked several times to explain the difference between a Portfolio, a Program, a Project, a Release and a Sprint. Currently, there is very little version control for development efforts, and I've been…

Portfolio Training for Cloud implementations
The current Portfolio training from Atlassian University is for server-based implementations only. I have a Cloud based implementation, and I need to learn the application. Are the differences for server vs. cloud significant enough that I should not take the Atlassian Course? If so, I'd love recommendations for a virtual…

When Agile Architectures Fail
A connection on Linked In shared an interesting article with me today. It describes a methodology that could have addressed some of the issues I've faced during my current project. Unfortunately for me, that project is in its final sprints, so I'll be presenting this as a "lessons learned" on our next retrospective.…

I don't have time for another stand-up!
Are you feeling conflicted? Not sure which stand-ups you need to attend and which you can skip? Just look to the 11th Agile Principle: “Self-Governing Teams Work Best!” If you are on multiple product teams you should not feel obligated to attend every single stand-up. Here are some guidelines to help you prioritize: DO…

Brainstorming: It doesn't have to be hard!
Over the years I've facilitated dozens of brainstorming sessions for all sorts of projects, and I've found that they generally end up like this: * Everyone starts with their own ideas but keeps open eyes and minds * The facilitator say they will capture the idea on the whiteboard * People start calling out ideas while the…

Export 'timespent' field to .csv results in numeric value
I am exporting a set of issues from a filter into a .csv file, In Jira the 'timespent' filed is correctly as "4 days, 3 hours," but in the .csv file it shows as "97200." Does anyone know the formula for converting this to hours?
