Copy from Project Lead Field for an Automation

I am trying to create an automation where when a specific Status is set, the task is Assigned to the Project Lead. I have other Custom Fields where I am able to auto-assign on specific Statuses, but I can't seem to assign anything based on the Project Lead field.

It seems the only workaround is to create another Project Lead field on each task and manually populate it.  The Project Lead doesn't change per project, so this seems like extra unnecessary work. 

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I don't see that Project Lead is a project-level field that is directly accessible with a smart value in Automation.

Have you looked at using the Send Web Request action to use the Jira REST API to extract the Project Lead information? Here is a link to an article about using the Send Web Request action.
