Having spent the last 20 years using MS Project, Jira is quite different. I was wondering if any Marketing teams are using it to manage their projects, and if they might have any tips or tricks to share.
Welcome to the Community, @Paul T_ Cote . Jira works for every team! Once you have decided on a workflow that works for you, ticket types and statuses, resolutions and the like, you can pretty much configure it for your team's needs. My recommendation is to read the documentation to understand Jira capabilities, define roles and set permissions accordingly. Make a couple of people (or a few people, but not everyone) an admin, and maybe take some trainings (some of them are free!):

It could be a good idea to combine Jira with Confluence.
Good luck, and fee free to ask more questions in the Community!
@Paul T_ Coteyou might consider using Cloud Premium to have the Advanced Roadmaps Planning feature. Plus you can still use MSproject to layout your timeline first and then export the project as an Excel spreadsheet and then import it into Jira.
