Welcome Wednesday: Cozy Comforts of Winter

Wednesday.gif

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We got a bit of a shock yesterday with a significant amount of snow and ice. So much so, that the schools were closed! This was a very healthy reminder that it’s becoming that time of year when a warm cup of coffee (or tea!) feels extra comforting, and the urge to stay cozy indoors grows stronger.

Last week, I received a 5 year anniversary gift from my company that included some fun things to help me keep warn including a packet of hot chocolate (which i haven’t made for myself in a few years). This got me thinking: we all have those little rituals or comforts that help us transition into the colder months.

So, my question for you this week is:
What’s your go-to comfort as the weather turns colder? Is it a favorite drink, a cozy blanket, a seasonal playlist, or maybe a special family tradition?

Let’s share our favorite ways to stay warm and happy as winter approaches! Drop your thoughts in the comments below.

Have a great rest of the week, everyone!

For our family it's cracking open the bin of of gloves, scarves, hats and snow pants that we pack away every spring. Searching for glove/mitten pairs, seeing what fits and what needs to be handed down or donated, and setting all of the surviving items into the shelves in our mud room so they are ready for the cold/snow/sleet/rain in the days ahead. And of course the annual last minute discovery that last season's boots no longer fit and impulse ordering replacements online!

This post definitely captures the winter vibe! ❄️
For me, comfort means a big cup of cinnamon tea, a fuzzy blanket, and a good book by the window. Sometimes I’ll even light a candle for that extra bit of warmth. 😅

For us in Estonia it means everybody are shocked because last winter was so long time ago :) Traffic is some days after first snow terrible even everybody know that winter is coming and car must have tires from december to february.

But another part is that we can go to ski, enjoy winter wonderland, walk over frozen lakes or frozen bog.

But mostly people are looking some vacation to warm weather like Thai, Italy, Spain and so on.

Definitely a cup of something warm - hot chocolate, tea, hot cider, etc. And a nice warm Atlassian hoodie.  :-)

Now that I live in Central Florida, the ritual is now getting out the long pants! 😁 Although I must report that, when I woke up yesterday morning, it was 36F/feels like 25F with the wind, so we were quite shocked at that. Glad I work from home on days like this.

For me, comfort on cold days (regardless of my location) means a pot of soup for dinner.

Clean and store all the summer shorts and t-shirts, put away the summer shoes (beach sandals etc.).
Get out the warmer clothing.
Rotate summer cycling gear for winter cycling gear.
Start making soups and stews.
Make an effort to still get outside as much as possible when the weather permits.

This may be a bit weird, but my go-to comfort is being outside :) I love cold weather and a lot of snow, and I find immense joy in being in it. A cup of hot mint tea when I come home would be a cozy little complimentary treat.

Congrats on your 5-year anniversary! My winter go-to is hitting the gym in the morning followed by a strong coffee - keeps the energy up during those dark months here in Germany.
