Welcome Wednesday: Any runs planned?

Happy Wednesday, folks!

Do you think of yourself as a runner? Do you dabble in the sport at all? (If you ARE a runner, feel free to share why in this post!)

From races - and walks - long or short, have you committed to joining any events?

I'll start:

  • I've signed up for a half marathon (March, Philly) and a marathon (April, Paris).
  • 🌮 This October, I'm strongly considering trying this novelty 50k run in Denver (30-ish miles) only because it involves eating tacos: https://tacobell50k.com

👟 Please share any races or walks you're thinking about joining, or have already signed up for! (Who knows, maybe I'll join you!)

I've signed up for marathon in April and another one in September.  I'm doing a trail half marathon next week.  Good luck with your training!

I have a treadmill at home, and I'm there each day. Not going long distances, but well, I guess consistency matters 😄

We also occasionally do 5km runs with our company (once or twice a year) 🏃, although there are usually not many people who are interested in that 😅

Treadmill here as well. Trying to be consistent 3-4 times a week during these winter times. I am also speaking at atlas camp 26 in Amsterdam and looking forward to run in that city on a streets. Who is also available for a run in Feb?

I'm a runner but due to an injury in my foot I haven't been able to run for the past 6 months... Except for a half marathon in Valencia I refused to throw away the ticket for 😂 stupid runner's brain. It was awful. But would I do it again? Absolutely. I was about to run the Lago Maggiore half marathon in March but changed it for 10k hoping I can make that injury free. Otherwise next HM is in Cardiff in October and then Lisbon next spring (Completing the Superhalfs)

My bus came early a few weeks ago, I considered running for it, but then I remembered there would be another one along soon so I carried on ambling vaguely in the general direction of the bus stop!

I used to run but got so out of shape! Now you're talking about tacos and running to make this more accessible to us folk? It's likely working ;)

I've run several 5K's in my life but nothing longer. Unfortunately I had to stop running when I injured my knee several years ago. Walking/hiking is something I still enjoy.

I run all the time.  I am here in north Austin and some of my favorite routes are:

  • Around Lake Austin
  • Around Lake Pflugerville
  • At San Gabriel Park in Georgetown

If anyone else is a runner in Austin and has a route and wants company or wants to do one of those love to meetup and have a sudo Atlassian runners club :-).

When I was a kid, running = sprinting (100 yards maximum). I was a very fast sprinter. Then, when I started junior high school, they had us run a 1/4 mile on the track. No one explained how to pace yourself or breathe differently to go a longer distance; I sprinted the whole way and was pretty sure I was going to die. 😦 This forever gave me a mental block against running for the sake of running.

Thanks for the replies so far, everyone! 🙌

As a Doctor Who fan, I want to join @Cornelia Jeppsson in Cardiff! 😂

@Sam Nadarajan - we could probably organize a half marathon of taco-eating that doesn't actually involve running, eh?

I'm a cyclist, not a runner. I don't know how to run. My pace and breathing strategy are always off. I start like Usain Bolt and finish like an injured elephant.

However, my 21 and 24 year old sons are runners, and are each signed up for some fulls and halfs this year. The best part for me is working with my 12 year old daughter to make the sideline signs and plotting where along the course we can see them!

Here's a sign from this past November's Philly Marathon my oldest son ran (but DNF'd due to stomach issues).
