Throwback Thursday: lederhosen? #TBT

It's Thursday!

I don't exactly know where I am going with today´s #TBT but here it goes. Back in December of 1978, my parents took me and my sister for a 3 or so week vacation to California and Florida. Both these places are hot; Iceland not even warm. I must not have had very many shorts, which makes sense, I was living in Iceland after all, but at least I had these super sporty and possibly trendy lederhosen:

For those that don't know: "The term Lederhosen is used in English to refer specifically to the traditional leather breeches worn by men in Southern Germany, Austria, South Tyrol and Slovenia."

Interesting topic today @Kristján Geir Mathiesen !

I had a very bright red pair of shorts with a kiwi logo on them which we bought from New Zealand.  We then moved to the UK and after the summer my shorts got put away in a box in the loft.  Next summer my mum got our summer clothes out and my shorts were too small, I was inconsolable when I found out that we couldn't get kiwis on shorts here, then my cousins came round and gave me some chocolate and I forgot all about it until now.

Ha, they put me in those “short” leather pants back then, too. They were sturdy, but not very attractive for a child.

I had a several pairs of shorts, (not sure what kind), as a kid that had every possible iron on patch to cover the holes. I think they were Hang Ten shorts.

I didn't wear a lot of shorts when I was young - but they would have been athletic shorts if I did.

@Kristján Geir Mathiesen I live in Florida now, so I understand how hot it is here all year round. 

When I was a kid, I know that any pair of jeans that got torn (or that still fit around the waist but were 2 inches too short after a growth spurt) were cut off to become shorts. In the 1970s, no one would be caught dead in jeans with a hole in them!

I had a pair of flared jeans with vertical stripes and sunflowers all over them. Absolutely hideous.

I had an outfit that kind of resembled your lederhosen. The only difference was that the shirt and shorts were sewn together so it was essentially a fancy-looking onsie. I remember it was an ordeal to go to the bathroom in it because there were so many buttons and they were difficult to navigate with little-kid fingers.

Well there was one day where I didn't figure out the buttons in time and had a... bathroom incident.

Least favorite childhood shorts. I don't think my mom made me wear that outfit again after that day.

Ever since work from home started, shorts have been my official uniform. Business on top, vacation on the bottom.😅

My least favourite shorts as a child were those which got my "family heritage" partly between the zipper. Didn't like those shorts.

Jajajajajaja, they put me in shorts but of a different kind, but I could say that in 90% of my childhood photos I have all kinds of shorts.
