Throwback Thursday: favorite Lego's from the past? #TBT

It's Thursday!

giphy

Here is a picture of me laying on the floor on the second floor of my childhood home. I´m guessing that I'm 5 or so. Wearing my PJs, playing with some Legos. I was really into cars back then. You can see the Shell gas station and on the right is a garage (auto shop). I think that one had a car lift as well.

Soooooo, tell us about some Lego memories that you have or your favorite Lego set :)
Let’s make it a great Thursday!

I remember getting this in 1985 at the age of 7, and this being the first set I completed on my own. It felt like such an accomplishment. I set up a card table in our basement playroom and plugged away for hours. My older brother offered to help, my father offered to help, but I was stubborn and wanted the creation to be 100% my own. 40 years later and I can still remember the feeling!

The good old times! My pride and joy was a playing table with an entire city—mainly a parking garage with a gas station, a fire department, and a police station.

Beyond this urban world, I was very taken with the Middle Ages and the knights' theme. Next to Robin Hood's "Camouflaged Outpost", this gem here was so fun to build and play with:

Unfortunately, no one thought to keep the boxes then, but at least I still have 99.9% of the bricks.

I remember building a two-story Lego house that had different rooms and tiny Lego people living inside. 🤩 I used to spend hours arranging the furniture and creating little stories for the characters. It even had a small garden outside! That set will always be one of my favorites, it wasn’t just about building it once, but about all the adventures I imagined inside those walls. 😍

We had a huge box filled with different random lego parts and I built "Battlestar Galactica" at the age of 8. It was so big, I could barely carry it.

I remember buying a lot of Lego sets for my nephews for Christmas and their father putting them together for them. 😊

Legos were my younger brothers thing growing up.  However I was fond of the fire boat.

Oh @Shawn Doyle - ReleaseTEAM  I had forgotten about the ships! I had one as well. Can't remember what kind it was. Think blue something...

Growing up, I had all sorts of Lego in several Rubbermaid boxes, but the joy of getting classic "Space Lego" topped it all. I would spend hours assembling and disassembling, making my own starship creations.

@Kristján Geir Mathiesen

I believe there was a police boat or coast guard one.

Oh, yes. I still tend to shake any wrapped gift given to me, just to see if it's Lego. One can hope.

Great sets I remember with fondness include all the first generation Technical Lego (particularly the car 8560), the big space shuttle (8480) with so many gears, and even the old 1973 rocket base (358)

When applying to college at 17, I was asked why I wanted to be an engineer. I said I really enjoyed creating complex Lego models. And was offered a place

Not from the past but I recently got into legos, so I got the A-Frame cabin from Costco and have started working on it 😊

Love this photo — those Shell and garage sets bring back memories!

My favorite from back in the day was a small police station set; I must have rebuilt it a hundred times with different “renovations.” Amazing how a few bricks could spark so many stories.

I'm too old to have had Legos as a kid. We just had wooden blocks.  :-)

Can't miss the Lego party...

I think my parents first got me those Lego buckets, such as 4115 set, which were quite cool as you could build a lot of smaller things, such as cars, airplanes...

Before the real Legos, I had LEGO DUPLO sets (apparently, from the picture, buckets as well) that served as a great starting point. I remember building all kinds of vehicles, which, in combination with that carpet, were a great combo 😄

Nowadays, I quite love Architecture sets. I was visiting France a couple of weeks ago, and I just had to get Paris set as a souvenir 🎁

Hi

I always liked Lego cars, they were my weakness, my parents bought them for me and as soon as they gave them to me you built them immediately until you finished them.

Regards
