Throwback Thursday: Your Favorite School Memory #TBT

It's Thursday!

giphy

It’s true that looking back at our school years can be a bit of a mixed bag. Not every hallway conversation or exam season or sport season was a highlight reel. Some of those memories are even better left in the rearview mirror. But if we let the "meh" moments take up all the space, we miss out on the gems!

Let's intentionally pivot toward the good stuff. The kind of memories that feel like a warm breeze or a sudden burst of laughter. I’m talking about the sweet moments, the total highlights, and those ridiculously fun stories that still make you shake your head in disbelief.

Soooo, when you think back to school days (any age), what is one memory that always makes you smile?

Let’s make it a great Thursday!

Walking down the school halls wearing that fav concert t shirt - it was cool. It was the 1980's

My fav concert t shirt was Journey

The first time I ever remember blushing in embarrassment:

Lunch in the cafeteria in 6th grade (I was 10 or 11 years old), 4 boys on one side of the table, me and 3 other girls on the other.

One of the boys says, "John Sp… like Lisa Ch…"

Lisa says, "No. John Sp… likes Barb Sez"

John says, "Yeah, I like Barb Sez"

In the '90s, the first day of spring (March 21st) was 'Skip Day' (Dzień Wagarowicza) in Poland.
Most kids just wouldn't show up to school; instead, they would gather for things like bonfires in the woods - without any adults.

It’s a funny memory for me because I was a good student, especially in math, and that was the same day the 'Kangaroo' Math Challenge was organized. So I would skip school with all my classmates, but then around 11:00 AM, I’d head back to school to take the tournament exam (paid exam), only to rejoin my friends ASAP afterward!

If it was a cold spring, we’d wait to skip until the temperature warmed up a bit - mostly because wet wood wouldn't burn anyway! :D

Fun times. No pictures, no videos... just memories.

When I saw that clock in the GIF, I instantly remembered that since 5th grade, I was known as the 'watch guy' ⌚
I believe I got my first wristwatch when I was 10. It was also hybrid - half 'analog' and half digital. As I was always wearing it to school, most of my classmates always relied on me when it came to 'Kad zvoni?,' which basically translates to 'When's the bell going to ring?' 😅

I remember that being quite a sophisticated watch for that time - as it was partially digital, I had all existing timezones and the biggest cities in each, so I could see what the time would be in London, New York, Beijing, etc.

I remember the feeling of thinking I was something of a big shot because I was on the school safety patrol in 5th grade   haha. Good times!

I'm still proud that we had a beer or two with our teachers several month after graduation and that they haven't forgotten us—for better or for worse 😇

After surviving the winter months in the US Midwest, once spring arrived, we could play kickball for gym class, baseball on recess, and then baseball practice after school!
