"featured" posts aging

Greetings, community!

I wonder why so many of the "featured" posts linger at the top of the community listings/searches for months at a time...taking up valuable space that could show newer content, questions, etc.  Perhaps a review of the settings for aging content (or what makes something "featured") could help improve listings and community searches for information.

Thoughts anyone?
