I'm going with "better late than never" for this week's Miscellaneous Monday post! Unfortunately, I've just now realized my post never actually posted!
For this week's Miscellaneous Monday, I wanted to highlight Earth Day (April 22nd)! I learned that it was actually started by a junior senator from my home state of Wisconsin. He had the idea for teach-ins on college campuses and recruited a young activist to organize them. They chose April 22nd because it was a weekday falling between Spring Break and Final Exams to engage the most students. In 1970, the name was changed and 20 million Americans joined demonstrations (10% of the population!)
This year, I participated in some clean ups over the weekend and plan to continue collecting trash while out for walks this week. Did you, or will you, do anything for the Earth this week?

We've been doing the same thing, @Jimmy Seddon - Earth Day is a great reminder to beef up our efforts, but we've been making small, sustainable (pun intended) changes all year!
Great!!
@Amanda Barber nice topic, nature really needs a lot of attention. Unfortunately, this week (Monday 22nd) my family did almost nothing, but we try to be conscious constantly :)
As for collecting trash, hopefully, I live in a rather clean city, and our city services usually do their best in this, and it's impossible to see the trash outdoors.
btw, in my city all the trees are blooming and look impressive :)
I love this time of year when the first flowers are popping up and trees are blooming!
While I live in a pretty clean city, one of the blocks we walk on often has thrown-away items from a local smoke/vape shop a few blocks away. I often think they should be required to perform cleanups of the area weekly. π We also picked up items that must have blown from the garbage bins this week on pick-up day since it's been VERY windy!
Earth Day this year was a beautiful day where I live, and I spent some time appreciating the planetβthat is, sitting on my porch reading a book. πππ
