Howdy, and happy Friday, Community! 👋
To celebrate this weekend-eve, I want to hear about your favorite "guilty pleasure" cereal, either now or as a kid.
Or, if you don't like cereal and never did, tell me about your favorite dietarily-naughty thing to eat for breakfast.
Growing up, I think mine's got to be either Cinnamon Toast Crunch or French Toast Crunch. I'm not proud of it, but I'm pretty sure I could crush a box in one meal.
More recently, I've discovered Kashi's Maple Waffle Bites which taste a lot like French Toast Crunch but (I tell myself) are healthier 😅.
So, dish! What's your favorite?
Have a great day; and go ahead, pour yourself an extra bowl of the good stuff. It's Friday.
A delicious classic!
Happy Friday! 👋
As a kid, I liked buckwheat with milk and a few spoons of sugar. Though I've never eaten it for breakfast, I've eaten it somewhere during the day. :) I have always preferred to skip breakfast in the morning, which annoyed my parents a lot when I was a child.
This is a fun one and brings back memories. My all time favorite is Cocoa Puffs....
Oh I definitely got coo coo for cocoa puffs a few times back in the day.
Mine was the same as @Kai Krause , nowadays I wouldn't dream of adding sugar to my corn flakes!
I have breakfast cereals at night as a snack and my wife can't get her head round it.
I do too sometimes :D Better than candy, is my logic for that ... haha
It's the ideal nightcap.
With 6 kids in less than 6 years, my mom did not give us sugar for breakfast, which I'm sure our teachers also appreciated.
In my junior high years, I gave up eating lunch at school, but we still made our lunches the night before. My dietarily-naughty thing to eat for breakfast was a tuna fish sandwich. On days where the lunch included a baggie of Fritos, I would add those onto the sandwich. This may be where my habit of not brushing my teeth until after breakfast came from.
Fritos + Sandwich = 🏆
Definitely cocoa puffs! YUM! :-D
Similarly naughty would be the s'mores PopTarts! When I'm training for a half marathon, those are still a guilty pre-run pleasure.
Well, I mean, you gotta fuel up if you're going to run that far!
I have to admit that I love most cereal although I rarely eat it any more because it is not good for me haha. But Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks are all up there on the guilty pleasures list. Not to be outdone is the relatively healthier Grape Nuts, Chex series, and Honey Nut Cheerios.
I'm still a sucker for Honey Nut Cheerios, too.
I don't lovvvve cereal but there IS something so satisfying about those hard marshmallows in lucky charms!
I used to eat cereals in the morning all the time, but the problem is that you become quite hungry after a couple of hours. So, I switched morning and evening meals as it appears you shouldn't eat much in the evening 😅
Anyway, as for the favorites, I'd say it's either 'Brundo' or 'Lino Pillows' 😋
I was never a big cereal eater, but growing up my guilty pleasure breakfast item was Nestle Quik. I would have a large glass with extra powder mix in it - so that there were clumps floating. I'd 'eat' the clumps with a spoon and then down the rest of the chocolate frothiness!
My wife grew up in a house where only healthy cereals were allowed. I moved in to our apartment before we were married to set it up, and asked her what I should make sure was in the refrigerator and pantry when she moved in after our wedding. She only wanted one thing - Cocoa Puffs! She was Coo-koo for Cocoa Puffs. I still remember her eyes lighting up when she took that first bite!
What a "sweet" memory! 💜
