how do you stop a scheduled automation if there are no cards which meet the criteria in trello

Tracy Brigham June 6, 2023

I have the below automation set up; I want to know if there is a way not to trigger this if there are no cards that match the trigger.

every wednesday at 09:30 am, create a report in variable "In_Transit" with all cards with the light lime "IN TRANSIT" label using pattern "Truck {cardname} - Est. Delivery Date: {cardduedate}", and send an email notification to "xxxxxx@outlook.com" with subject "Trucks In Transit Report" and message "Hi Andrew,\n\nIn order for us to plan next steps for the below trucks we need to get an estimation of when we will receive them.\nCould you please confirm the below dates and if no date is listed advise your Est. Delivery Date of these trucks to CMV Hallam or the nominated locations.\n\n{$In_Transit}\n\nThis email is a Do Not Reply for all responses use: xxxxxxxx@xxxx.com.au\n\nKind regards\n\nxxxxxxxxxx"

Hi Tracy!

When you mention stop a scheduled automation if there are no cards which meet the criteria, do you mean stop sending an email report if there are no cards that match the "IN TRANSIT" label?

The ability to only send reports if it contains data (cards) isn't possible with Trello, sorry about that! Unlike rules, which rely on certain triggers like when a card has been created or moved, scheduled automations rely on a given trigger according to a specific time or day, such as every day at a specific time or every week on a particular day. Scheduled automation WILL trigger every time that time criteria is met, and will send a report even if there are no cards.

If you can share more context as to how this will be beneficial for your use case, I can pass your feedback to our relevant team for consideration.

If you are curious about how our team decides which requests we work on, we have published a blog post with detailed information on this process here: https://blog.trello.com/feature-requests-unite-support-and-product

Hope this helps!
