how do i log in the desktop app

when launching the app i keep getting a malformed request message i cleared my browser cache and tried again as suggested but that did not solve my issue

Welcome to the Community! Can you try to log out of all Atlassian accounts and re-log in using an Incognito window? Then try the app again.
If that doesn't work, I'd recommend to reinstall Trello app.
You can also try: to fully quit the Trello Desktop App; clear the Trello desktop app data(delete the Trello folder); re-logging via browser; and then open the desktop app again.
