I’m working on building a small tool that solves a problem I’ve seen come up a lot in teams that use Trello.
When someone is absent (sick, vacation, unexpected time off), their tasks often get stuck or completely forgotten. Trello doesn’t seem to have a clean way to:
- mark a user as “out of office”
- automatically notify the team
- automatically reassign their tasks to a backup person
- prevent tasks from being assigned to someone who is away
I’m building a lightweight tool that plugs into Trello and does exactly this: you mark someone as absent, and their tasks get routed to the correct backup automatically.
Before I go too deep into development, I’d love to know:
1. Would this actually help your team?
2. Have you experienced this issue yourselves?
3. Is there an existing workaround you use?
Any feedback would help me shape the tool the right way.
