What's a better way to scroll horizontally?

With giant trello boards there doesn't seem to be a good way to get from one side to another. Didn't know if people had good work arounds or anything. 

It gets annoying trying to drag on the little scrollbar and trying to find what I want in the list.

The only thing I could recommend is using the Chrome browser and choosing one of the Chrome extensions that are making list displays more enjoyable.

For instance, there is Collar for Trello which can minimize lists. There is Trello Flow that can hide columns which are currently not important. Trellists can hide & show lists on demand.

Another solution would be to show your lists vertically or as a grid. The List Layout extension can do this.

There are more extensions like this, I hope one is working out for you.
