I am trying to remove members from our workspace before going to the paid option after a free trial but nothing happens when I deselect the X- they won't come off and I cannot upgrade whilst they are still listed.
To add on to what me colleague suggested, please make sure you also click on the "Remove from workspace" button to remove the member.
Hi i have tried both but two members are still there and the workspace will not remove them. I have done incognito and checked the box
Can you help please as I cannot upgrade with them

I am having the exact same issue and it affects my (10) member limit.
I am using the Trello app on my computer, I'm not in a browser.
I have followed the directions given in this article: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/removing-collaborators-from-free-workspaces/#Removing-Workspace-guests
I have clicked on remove and also selected the check mark within that pop up, but nothing has changed. The person is still listed as a workspace member per the member count, albeit they are on 0 boards now... But because of the member limit, I can't remove old employees and add the new ones on.

I figured it out!
I was previously using the app on my computer, and it wasn't until I signed into a browser to notice that the description of the removal was ALSO an additional button I needed to click.
We have to select the first button to remove to spark the pop out, AND also the blue checkbox, AND then also click again on the description which is what does the final removal. The grey selection in my image is another button!!
I hope Trello makes that description look more like a button to click because that will make everything more clear.
Thank you to the community for your help and ideas.

Hi @Claire Worsley ,
Welcome to the community!
Try opening your browser in incognito or private mode and please attempt to remove the members again. This helps ensure that no extensions or cached data are interfering.
