Unable to access my Trello account that was created using an email account that is no longer active

When I first opened my Trello account I used an email address that is now inactive (my company merged with another company and we have new email addresses now). The new company configured the system to forward any emails sent to my old email account to my new email account some time ago. Even though I had a new email account, I was still able to access Trello using my old email account for some time now (several months).

I was able to access Trello this morning, but at some point I was automatically logged out and when I try to log in using the original email account that I opened the account with I get a message indicating that my account has been deactivated. It also said it would send an email to me with more information about who I should contact to get my account re-activated.

I have not received an email indicating who to contact.

If I try logging in using my current email address it does not have access to the Trello boards that I was using. It's as if I am setting up a new Trello account instead of accessing my existing Trello account (which logically makes sense).

Is there any way I can access using my old email address (the one that's associated with the Trello account I use)? If so, maybe I can export what's contained in there, open a new Trello account using my new email address and import the work there?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Update: I checked to see if emails being sent to my old email address are still being forwarded to my new email address and they are being forwarded. I sent a test email to my old email address and it was forwarded to my new email address and appeared in my inbox, so I don't think that is the problem. My account just seems to be deactivated for no reason - I use my Trello board all day every day so it can't be because of inactivity.

Welcome @Perlin_ Jeffrey _CMS_CTR_

It sounds like your issue is not related to email forwarding, but rather that your Trello account itself has been really deactivated. This can happen if your company (or the new merged organization) has taken control of the email domain through Atlassian, which manages Trello accounts. When that happens, accounts tied to the old domain can be suspended or converted into managed accounts...

Since your old email is still forwarding correctly, the missing email notification is likely not the main problem. The key issue is that your account is no longer active on Trello side.

At this point, your best options are:

-> Check with your company’s IT or system administrator to see if they’ve claimed or are managing the old domain in Atlassian they may be able to restore your access.
-> Reach out to Atlassian support and maybe they can investigate and potentially reactivate your account (if you are on Trello Free version please let me know - we would try to request assistance here)

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to access or export your boards without logging into the original account. However, if any of your boards were shared with teammates, someone else on those boards may still be able to export the data for you.

If you do regain access, I would recommend exporting your boards right away and moving them to a new account under your current email to avoid this happening again.

Hi Mirek -

Thanks for the response. It ends up that the account was managed by my organization and they had deactivated it. I am working with them to resolve.

Take care,

Jeff

Yes, this is what I suspected as a main reason. Ok, thank you @Perlin_ Jeffrey _CMS_CTR_  for sharing and confirming the root cause. Hope that you can get back on track soon!
