This is the second time I've been using Trello and I've typed a good portion of information into a Description field and the text disappears without warning. I've lost a lot of time to this now and it's getting frustrating. Does anyone know what's happening here or how to prevent it? I can't tell when the text gets deleted, it might be after some time passes or it might be if I click out of the field. This is Chrome on Windows 10.
Hey Jim,
From your description, it sounds like your running Trello web client had lost its active connection to Trello's servers. When this happens, Trello will let you commit changes, like save a comment, which gets saved in your browser's cache, with the expectation that the connection to Trello will resume momentarily, and the change can be saved successfully at that point. If that doesn't happen, it's possible for the the change to be lost, unfortunately. If you refresh the page, then the change is typically gone.
We have some more information about that here: Losing connection to Trello servers
Once option you may want to explore is to check if the description you made ever reached Trello by attempting to recover descriptions. If the content was only displayed locally on your computer and the changes were not saved to our servers, I'm afraid it's not possible to recover that using this method, but it may be worth a shot to check.
If you tend to keep a browser window open with Trello for long periods of time, that's one thing that can definitely increase the risk of the connection being lost. Making sure to save your content and refresh Trello periodically, especially after waking the computer from sleep, to help make sure that your connection stays active.
I hope this helps! Reach out to us on https://trello.com/en-US/contact if you need further assistance.
