Smart Links … an irritation …

I have an issue whereby:

  • I've added a link as an attachment to a card.
  • The link is to a Teams chat on my work computer.
  • Trello keeps saying "Connect to your MS-Teams account" and obliterating part of the card.
  • Unfortunately, whilst work policy allows Trello it does not allow connections.

So, how to I kill this kind of suggestion?

I tried the disable suggestions approach in settings, but that didn't work ...

Hi Edward,

There are a few things you can try here.

First, try changing your Atlassian link preferences:

https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/link-preferences

Set the default display for new links to URL. You can also add an exception for the Teams domain, for example `teams.microsoft.com`, and set that domain to display as URL.

Second, if you only need to keep the Teams link on the card, try putting it in the card description or a comment instead of adding it as an attachment. Wrap the URL in backticks, like this:

In Trello, backticks format text as inline code, so the URL is more likely to stay as plain text instead of becoming a Smart Link preview.

If the link is added as a card attachment, it may still trigger Trello’s preview or “Connect to Microsoft Teams” prompt. In that case, I would remove the link attachment and keep the URL in the description or comments instead.
