Our Trello Admin left the company abruptly now we have no active Admins and can't add one.

We currently have no member with admin credentials as the previous admin left the company abruptly. How can we designate someone to move from a member to an admin?

Hi @Erik Haldi welcome to Atlassian Community.

Please be informed, this is a common and difficult scenario because Trello (and Atlassian) prioritizes security; they cannot casually grant admin access to a requester, as they cannot easily verify if the requester is the legitimate owner.

Troubleshooting:

The "Email Recovery" Method (safe and secure as you will raise an internal IT ticket confirming your identity and role):

  • Ask your IT team to temporarily reactivate the former employee's email inbox or redirect their emails to you.
  • Go to Trello/Atlassian login and request a Password Reset for that former admin’s email address.
  •  Once logged in as the "Old Admin," navigate to the Workspace Members tab.
  • Grant Admin status to yourself or another active employee.
