I have a Trello workspace which has 23 collaborators. I am on Free tier. Now starting Apr 08, 2024, Trello has limited the number of collaborates as 10 for free workspaces. As admin of this workspace, if I upgrade to premium, will I be able to retain and add more collaborators or do I need to get premium account for all the members in the workspace?

Welcome to the community @Shubhansh Maheshwari

You only need to upgrade to the higher tier, which will be applied across the entire workspace. No need to pay for individual user.

Thanks @Nikola Perisic , but I am a bit confused. I read this article:

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/how-billing-works-with-trello-premium-and-standard/

It says that "With Trello Premium and Standard, you’re charged for each billable person in a Workspace."

Can you suggest official source of your information that I can utilize to approximate the right billing?

Do I need to pay for all Workspace members, even if they're not admins?

Standard and Premium are upgrades for the entire Workspace. Billing is based on the total number of active Workspace members and multi-board guests, including normal members and admins.

@Shubhansh Maheshwari Upgrades apply to the entire Workspace rather than an individual user, so you wouldn't choose individual people to upgrade. Once you upgrade, the bill is automatically calculated taking into account all users.

However, that doesn't mean that all users have to be paid for as part of that bill. That depends on these criteria:

  1. Members of the Workspace itself are always billable
  2. Guests of the Workspace are billable if they are members of more than one board. If the guest is only on one board, they're free.

We have some more info on how this works here: https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/how-billing-works-with-trello-premium-and-standard/

If you'd like to see in advance how much it would cost to upgrade your Workspace, you can find that by going to the Workspace billing page. To navigate there, click on the down arrow next to "Workspace settings" in the sidebar, and then click on "Upgrade workspace." You'll be able to switch between monthly and annual billing on that page to see how much each option would cost for either Trello Premium or Trello Standard.
