Hello. How do I stop my customers accessing my public template as a member on the board? I have researched over and over and tried EVERYTHING but they still have access and can edit. I’ve literally changed it from public to private to public over and over. But they still keep showing up as board members but I don’t want them as members. I only want them to copy the template to use in their own account. Please HELP! Ps. I only gave free Trello.
Hello @Switchlife Digital
Just check the board members list and remove them there. Also check for any old invites still sitting on the board. Once they are no longer board members, they should only be able to use Create board from template, not edit your template itself.

Thank you. That doesn’t work though. I shared the link. They click on it.
it’s set to public so they can access it. The blue tab to create board from template comes up. But they still have access to change the template aswell. I’ve tried a gazillion combos but they can still make template changes. I delete them from the board but clicking the link they get put onto the board again and the same cycle begins over and over. I also have to set the template back to private before I can delete them off the board.

That should not happen from a normal template link.
If they get added back as members every time they open it, then the access is coming from somewhere else, usually an old invite/join link or because they are still in your Workspace.
Check the exact link you are sharing and check whether those users are still listed in the Workspace, not just on the board.
A public template link should let them copy the template, not turn them into board members again

Correct it shouldn’t be happening but it is. I’m not new to Trello, have created plenty templates over 10 years, but this is causing me stress. I’m the only workplace member. Workplace is set to private. The template is set to public. They have the one link which I created and sent them to join. The link is for the board only, not the workplace. I cannot figure out what is going wrong

Hi!
The most common reason this happens is sharing an "Invite Link" instead of the standard board URL. When you use the "Share" button and copy the link from there, it acts as a direct invitation to join the board as an active member.
As long as the board is set to Public and marked as a Template, sharing the direct browser URL is the only secure way to let users copy it without gaining edit access.

That makes sense then. I’m assuming I’d then need to share the URL link via PC and not the app? Thank you so much for your reply I’ve been trying absolutely everything (except this) as yes it was the Share link I was sending these people which automatically joins them as members which I don’t want. 🙏🏻
