One has to wonder if the current issue going on is due to a poor implementation of AI in the coding process. Something creating bugs that is now hard to fix and I wonder if with a smaller staff, though maybe the trello staff is as large as ever and not following the same trend as a lot of the other tech industry?

Hi Aaron!

Interesting theory! Though biting your tongue while eating — despite decades of experience — is a perfect reminder to stay humble when analysing someone else's failures. Bugs happen, AI or not.

I think that would be a reasonable thing to remind one of if there was evidence of the statement holding validity.

And then not from this but you have reports issues that have been caused by AI directly of https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/mar/12/atlassian-layoffs-software-technology-ai-push-mike-cannon-brookes-asx

So, in light of not being told what caused it, I think it is reasonable to ask, is this due to a business implementing AI without the safeties in place to ensure it isn't causing problems. Are they trying to implement things too fast as to not miss out on the golden goose but not ensuring it isn't causing other problems to the service.

Fair point — and the links you shared do add context worth considering. AI adoption at scale is a bit like any major technological shift: the steam engine, the mobile phone. Someone always leaps forward, someone stumbles. The pressure to move fast is real, and the risks that come with it are equally real.

Whether this specific incident was caused by AI or not, we don't know — Atlassian hasn't shared the root cause. But the broader question you're raising is legitimate and worth asking of any company moving this fast.
