In Standard subscription, can I assign a guest user to a checklist item?

Currently using the free version of Trello and considering upgrading to Standard. We're a small team but really don't need all of our people to have Trello accounts, even though they do get tasks assigned.  Currently we are treating them as "Guests" but that only permits assigning those names at the Card level.  Does Standard, which provides Advanced Checklists, allow assigning Guests to checklist items?
