I want to invite Trello users to a specific board: Link is not possible

On my Trello board: STRM044-SPRMU-2122 (Cohort 23) - Business Research Project (MIU) I seek to invite students that I encourage to sign up to trello.com first. After students sign up to Trello I share the invitation link with them. However, students cannot  join and receive a failure message. I do have 629 guests, so at some point it has worked. When I seek to manually add a guest, also that is not permitted, as it says that I need to add that person as a workspace member. I only want to add that person to the specific board but not to the workspace. Kindly advise.

Hi @Dr Holger Siemons - it sounds like the workspace has a setting that stops non-workspace members from joining the workspace. If you're the admin of the workspace, you can change this in settings. If you're not the admin of the workspace, you can ask an admin to change this.
