I tried this several times. I will say that cards were copied early in the week when I copied a list. Any suggestions?

Not particularly large... maybe twenty or so items each. A number of the cards the lists contain have checklists and due dates, however.
The problem seems to have resolved itself. Perhaps it was just a temporary bug.
