I am trying to log in to Trello on a new iPhone, via Google. I enter my email and pw, at which point the 2-step verification asks me to open the Gmail app on my old phone. I have already deleted everything on my old phone so I can't do that. When I click 'try another way' - using my old phone is the only way listed. How can I get around this?

Welcome to the Community @Melissa Janisin :)

The good news regarding your case is this is a Google account verification issue, not something specific to Trello. Trello just uses your Google account for sign-in, so the 2-step verification process is fully controlled by Google.

Here’s what you can try:

Go to the Google Account Recovery page

  • Visit https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery from any browser.
  • Follow the steps to recover access without your old phone. Google will usually offer alternatives like a backup email, SMS verification, or security questions.

Use backup codes or another verification method

  • If you saved Google backup codes before, you can use one to complete sign-in.
  • If you have another device (laptop or tablet) already signed in to your Google account, open myaccount.google.com/security → 2-Step Verification to manage or turn off 2FA temporarily.

After regaining access

  • Once you can log into your Google account again, Trello will automatically accept that login since it relies on Google authentication.

Hope it will be helpful!
