How do I assign jobs or tasks in the new updated Trello?

Since the updated version of Trello - I can't seem to find out how to add tasks/jobs to a card and assign one person to some jobs and another to other jobs.

I see when I'm in a card, I can add a task, but to assign someone is behind a paywall now - whereas there was not an issue before.

I'm trying to setup to prove we use this for our charity and I'm blocked by a paywall it seems.  Is there an alternative way to have tasks within a card and not use this method?

You can assign cards to various people on your team for free, but advanced checklists is a paid feature.
