Hi everyone,
I’ve been using Trello for task management and team collaboration, and it generally works very well. However, recently I started using a VPN for security and access to some external services, and I noticed that Trello sometimes loads a bit slower or cards take longer to open.
This is especially noticeable when working with larger boards or multiple tabs at the same time. I understand that VPNs can affect routing and connection speed, but I’m trying to understand how significant this impact is specifically for Trello as a web application.
I also came across this overview explaining how VPN protocols can influence speed and stability: vpnmag.net - it helped me better understand the technical side of VPN performance.
So I’d like to ask the community:
- Has anyone experienced slower Trello performance while using a VPN?
- Are there any recommended settings (VPN or browser-related) to reduce latency?
- Does the choice of VPN protocol (e.g., WireGuard vs OpenVPN) noticeably affect web app performance like Trello?
Any insights or real-world experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Obviously Trello loading speed will be influenced by a VPN.
