Hello,

I am an administrator of a board, and when I create a card from a template card, the date that appears on the card is always the same — in my case, March 2022.

What can I do to make the card automatically display the creation date instead? This would avoid having to manually change the date each time using the calendar.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi @Jacky Bismuth

It is more helpful to show you how to do it.

As @Rock stated, remove the due date from the template. Then set up this automation:

  1. Select "when a card is copied into list", a create from template is the same as copying a card...Where it has [yourlistname] replace with the list name the card gets created into

  2. Add the action set due date to now

If you're really new to automation, I suggest you start by reading here:

Hi Jacky,

You have asked the question in the Jira group, but you have added a tag for Trello. Are you asking about a Trello board or a Jira board? And if it is Jira, is it Team-managed space or Company-managed space?

This happens because template cards copy the exact due date saved on the template. Trello doesn’t support dynamic or auto-updating dates on templates.

To avoid this, remove the due date from the template and let Butler automation set it when the card is created, such as assigning today’s date or a relative offset. Without automation, the date will always stay the same as the template.
