Date Due Notification not working for IOS, or even via email

My understanding for the Date Due feature is so that you get a reminder to let you know that you need to complete a task.  I set one earlier today, and I never received a notification via IOS or even via email.  I've got through all my settings to see if I missed setting something up, but it doesn't seem as though I missed anything.  Any ideas?
