I'm wondering if there is a way to change the calendar view in Trello so that is shows more details of the project on the calendar page rather than just showing the project name.

Do you mean showing things like you can see on the card front in board view??
Calendar view does show labels so you could use labels to add additional context

Yeah, that is what I mean. But it sounds like the way to do it is with labels like you're saying?
