You are probably thinking of

Jira Work Management

It really comes down to personal preference but you have to really ask yourself 'why?' first.  Where are you today and where do you want to get to?

Regardless of how these huge software companies are selling it to you, they are here to serve you, not the other way round.

Work out where you want to get to and why, establish where you are today and if you're using Trello, how is it impeding you from achieving your goal.  Then set about establishing how Jira Work Management may get you to when you want to be

Here is a summary based on my experiments with Jira Work Management...

What it is:

Sat on top of the Jira platform, a bunch of views and templates that allow you to use it for managing business functions outside of the development world (HR, Sales & marketing etc..)

It offers well made templates and Trello-like Kanban capability

It has the power of Jira behind it and a very active marketplace

It feels like a big business solution but it is affordable for small due to Atlassian's generous pricing model

What it isn't:

A like for like replacement to Trello (I hope Atlassian are listening...)

  • It is nowhere near as simple as Trello
  • Even with the simplified workflows and templates, the learning curve is steep by comparison
  • It just isn't as visually appealing

Why I am not recommending this as a solution to my clients (yet)?

  • My clients love the simplicity of Trello in every way
  • Trello means new starters can be on-boarded at rapid speed
  • Trello's flexibility doesn't come at a cost to its simplicity
  • They can automate almost any part of Trello without having to learn a scripting language
  • They don't want or need extra complication, their businesses are complicated enough
  • Trello is always obtainable regardless of size, budget, technical ability or type of work you do. Jira Work Management still sits on top of an enterprise-level tool, originally designed for developers and with capability at the expense of simplicity
  • The coolest Atlassian community is the Trello one 😁
