Hi everyone, I have been working with Trello for the longest time both on my PC and my mobile. I recently exchanged my PC for a tablet, no problemo.
Since yesterday I cannot save any work on my tablet, only on my phone. This is more than aggravating as I manage all my customers on Trello. I deinstalled Trello and installed it again to no avail. There is the save button but clicking on it doesn't do anything. Changes saved on my mobile will appear on the tablet.
Help!
Hi there,
This is a frustrating issue, but it is almost certainly a local sync/cache conflict on your tablet rather than a problem with your account (since your phone works fine). When the "Save" button does nothing, it means the app's "Write" command is failing to reach the Trello API.
Since you have already tried reinstalling, please follow these three definitive steps to fix the connection:
1. Perform a "Deep" Cache Clear (Crucial)
A simple reinstallation often leaves corrupted data behind. You must clear the system storage manually:
For Android: Go to Settings > Apps > Trello > Storage. Click Clear Cache AND Clear Data. Restart your tablet and log back in.
For iPad: Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage > Trello. Select Delete App (not Offload), restart the device, and then do a fresh install from the App Store.
2. Check the "Workaround" (The Web Test)
Open your tablet's browser (Chrome or Safari) and go to trello.com.
If you can save changes via the browser but not the app, the issue is strictly a bug in the tablet app's local version or an OS compatibility issue.
If you cannot save on the browser either, your tablet’s network (DNS or Firewall) is likely blocking Trello's "POST" requests. Try switching from Wi-Fi to a Mobile Hotspot to test.
3. Reset the Authentication Token
Sometimes your session "looks" active but has lost permission to write data.
Log out of Trello on the tablet.
Restart the tablet completely (Power off and on).
Log back in. This forces Trello to generate a brand-new security token for your device.
Why did this happen?
If you recently switched devices, the tablet might be trying to use an old sync protocol. Following Step 1 (Clear Data) is the most successful fix for this specific "aggravating" bug.
Please let us know your Tablet Model and OS version if the problem persists after these steps!
